Stephen Shore

Stephen Shore (New York City, 1947) is an American photographer and artist. Shore's embarked on a series of trips to rural America to taking pictures of landscapes. In 1972 he made a trip from Manhattan to Amarillo, Texas, which sparked his interest in color photography. Noting the streets and villages he traveled and had the idea to take photographs in color, first using a 35mm camera and then with a large format 4x5 camera. His book Uncommon Places, 1982, was a kind of Bible for new photographers wearing the color, because along with William Eggleston were pioneers in using color photography and revalue as an artwork.
