The weekend of the 21 and the 22 of November we attended to "V Regional Contest of Sheep and Goat from Picos de Europa" in the village of Potes (Cantabria). Within a broad program for the recovery of bones-break in Picos de Europa, as well as a number of activities specific to rural areas including the purchase and sale of sheep and goat, trade of typical products and crafts of the area.
This contest is to promote Picos de Europa in local, regional and national levels, highlighting the cattle culture and biodiversity as two of its core values and promoting the consumption of traditional products obtained in a sustainable way, such as cheese, lamb or goat. This year, the lambs will be of the new brand linked to the shepherds from Liébana, "Lechazos Montañas de Liébana" that have been sampled in a popular lamb stew at the end of the sheep shearing contest. The Contest is organized by the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bones-Break and the Municipality of Potes.
